With spring arrival comes new growth- especially for Bermuda’s very own author, Catherine West. The historic Vietnam War was the backdrop for which West found inspiration to fulfill what became a three-year writing journey that eventually blossomed into becoming her first novel, Yesterday’s Tomorrow.
Debuting this month, Yesterday’s Tomorrow is a poignant love story sure to engross readers by the paralleled and tumultuous battle of emotions between the two central characters, career-driven writer Kristin Taylor, and brooding photographer Luke Maddox. Relatable human drive, faith and passion are central themes as Kristin and Luke engage in their own battle, amidst the tumultuous Vietnam War, willing to risk it all for what they believe in.

West graciously includes a Christian tone in her novel, which seems appropriate, as she is part of the American Christian Fiction Writers, and a founding member of International Christian Fiction Writers. She assures her novel is able to reach a wide audience and says, “You really don’t need to be a Christian to enjoy this book”. So, Book Clubs of Bermuda, this sounds like a great addition to your list of ‘must reads’; a great plot to get lost in individually and to gossip about amongst friends!
Educated in Bermuda, England and Canada, Catherine West holds a degree in English from the University of Toronto. When she’s not at the computer working on her next story, she enjoys taking her Border Collie for long walks or tending to her roses and orchids. Like her-self, West’s website is very welcoming so if you are interested in learning more, have a little browse and read through her novels’ excerpt. And stay tuned! West is just getting started, her next novel, Hidden in the Heart is already in progress.
Catherine West will be signing her just released novel at Brown & Co on April 16th from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm.
