The Bermudian

A classic, nautical theme pervades the decor, which is modelled to the likeness of a ship’s cabin. Faux portal windows adorn the walls and, thanks to bright, photorealistic paintings, appear to look out onto a lively scene in Hamilton Harbour. Scattered around the edge of the room are semi-circular booths; regular table seating is available in the center of the restaurant.

The Newport serves classic dishes with a modern twist. A bold and confident kitchen turns out imaginative creations and captures guests’ attention with inspired food presentation and plating techniques. Take the much loved poutine, for example, which is served smothered and loaded in a mini cast iron dish. Many other appetizers and desserts are delivered to the table on thick slabs of slate! You can even watch chefs shuck oysters and build charcuterie platters at the live action prep station in the middle of the room.



When you arrive, check the blackboard specials for new and exciting appetizers, main courses and desserts. A must-try is the “Drunken Mussels”, flavoured with white wine, garlic and cherry tomatoes and plated with a handful of french fries. The fresh raw bar is also outstanding. Another popular dish is Fancy Pork Ribs. Gluten-free options and a cheekily-written “young adults menu” are also available.

Last but not least, The Newport loves its beer. In fact, the restaurant boasts the largest selection of local and craft beers on island. Accent your meal with one of over 40 international brews or go for their sampler trio if you’d rather spread the love around. Nothing pairs better with a big ol’ frosty beer than their “Serious Burger”: marbled Wagyu beef, aged cheddar, garlic aioli, egg and bacon - yum!
