When the dog days of summer reach fever pitch, there’s nothing better than a frozen treat to help cool you down. Here are our favourites and where to find them.

- Gourmet Fruit Popsicles from Duch Pops
- Arguably the best way to enjoy summer fruits is in popsicle form and Duch Pops—located on the lower level of Washington Mall—serves the very best made using all-natural fruits and juices. Each popsicle is vibrant in colour and bold in flavour, and customers can choose between a variety of robust combinations. Our favourites? The Bermuda Triangle (mango, passionfruit and coconut), SpicyIslander (mango and chili), Bermuda Cedar (classic fudgesicle) and the Bermuda Longtail (creamy coconut). Visit Duch Pops in the Washington Mall or on Instagram @duchpopsbermuda.
- Pineapple and Ginger Beer Snow Cones from Snowball Shack
- Come summertime, there’s no shortage of snowball vendors, and while everyone has their favourite, most locals will agree that Bermuda Cupcake Company’s Snowball Shack crafts a snowball so superior it’s in a category of its own. Housed in a small pink trailer off Palmetto Road in Devonshire, the Snowball Shack boasts a large variety of frozen treats, including shakes, stuffed pineapples and ice cream, but what the people come for in droves is the snowball. But what is it that makes this snowball so superior? It’s simple: the ice is light and fluffy, the snowball itself comes in a variety of sizes (from the 4-ounce Baby to the 20-ounce X-Large) and one can choose from a comprehensive catalogue of flavours (42 to be exact.) Those looking to try new flavour combinations should try Pineapple and Ginger Beer, Black Cherry and Cola, or Strawberry and Cheesecake. Visit the Snowball Shack at the Railway Terrace on Palmetto Road, Devonshire, or on Instagram @bermudacupcakecompany.

- Hand-rolled Ice Cream from Mix + Roll
- Bermuda’s first-ever rolled ice cream can be found at Mix + Roll, a small food truck located to the west of the flagpole on Front Street. Patrons are invited to select from a variety of different flavours of ice cream, including some that are keto or vegan. Next, one chooses toppings like fresh fruit, cereal, cookies or candy, which are chopped up and combined with the ice cream before being spread out onto a cold pan and rolled into perfect curls. Before being served, each rolled ice cream is topped again with syrups, sprinkles and whipped cream, resulting in a truly special dessert worthy of superior praise. Visit Mix + Roll on Front Street in Hamilton or on Instagram @mixandrollbda.

- Freshly Squeezed Lemonade from Ashley’s Lemonade
- Described by the Bermuda Tourism Authority as “sunshine in a cup,” Ashley’s freshly squeezed lemonade is legendary. Since 2017, the highly revered lemonade stand has called the corner of Reid and Burnaby Streets home and has been a popular lunchtime pit-stop for Hamilton’s workforce. In addition to their original recipe, they also serve Limeade (made with fresh lime), Mango Lemonade (made with mango puree), Old Fashioned Root Beer and the ever-popular Sunset Lemonade (made with fresh strawberries and mango.) Those wanting a sweet treat without the sugar can rejoice: each drink can be made with cane sugar, stevia, agave or entirely without sugar. - Sherbet Shakes from De Island Shack
- Small in size but big in personality is De Island Shack, a Somerset gem serving up frozen sherbet shakes in a whole host of different flavours. While ice cream is made with dairy as a base, sherbet contains little dairy and uses fruit puree as a base instead. Not sure which flavour to get? Try the classic Pineapple, Mango or the ever-favourite Round De World. Visit De island Shack at 56 Somerset Road or on Instagram @deislandshackbermuda_new.

- Dark n’ Stormy Ice Cream from Melt Down
- Tucked away near the back of Old Cellar Lane is Melt Down, a small and uncomplicated ice-cream shop with a very loyal fanbase. For a truly Bermudian treat, try the Dark n’ Stormy ice cream in a dark chocolate waffle cone—it’s a flavour combination found nowhere else!
