Named for the epicurean Tudor monarch King Henry VIII, this charming South Shore landmark is a testament to good food, drink, music and company. Established in 1970 as an English-style restaurant and pub, it now offers some of the best and most comprehensive sushi on Island.
The masterful chefs will even craft you a special roll to suit your fancy. Combined with a panoramic view and a decadent dessert list, it’s easy to see why Henry’s maintains its appeal.
Henry VIII’s fine dining menu features a wide array of choices of local and international standards, with an emphasis on quality meats and poultry, fresh seafood and locally sourced produce. Pub favourites such as Bangers and Mash, meat pies and beer battered fish and chips are also on offer and never disappoint. Seafood lovers appreciate the Sushi Bar, which produces a superb selection of sashimi, makimono and other special dishes. Henry’s has plenty to offer patrons who enjoy meat, such as Grilled Rib Eye, NY Strip Steak and Rack of Lamb, or for fish lovers, a Pan Fried Rockfish Almondine served with a lemon butter sauce.
Henry VIII is in situated a stand-alone building with a Terrace that offers stunning ocean views. It is located just down the hill from the iconic Gibb’s Hill Lighthouse. Guests can enjoy al fresco dining, available on the lower deck, or sit in the private area, located upstairs. You’re also invited to Henry VIII’s Oak Room Pub, which has a warm and welcoming old-English vibe. It’s here that you can listen to live music on weekends after dinner, or just sit outside on the patio and appreciate the moment and the view.
