The restaurant’s authentic yet exotic menu is inspired by a love for fresh, local fish and shellfish. Guests can even watch up-close on two monitors as their sushi is prepared. With unique flair and charisma, Pearl’s skilled chefs combine their extensive worldly experience with their traditional training in the Japanese art of sushi making. Each and every one of Pearl’s starters and entrees is a beautifully plated masterpiece. The Rockfish Uzuzukuri is by far one of Chef Leo’s hottest sellers. Fresh slices of rockfish are prepared with ginger and red onion and flavoured with a rice wine vinegar reduction. The Pearl Maki Rolls, all named after real pearls, are also exceptionally tasty and impeccably presented. The “Black Pearl”, with barbecue eel, salmon, rockfish and spring onion with teriyaki sauce is our favourite. Or, if you’re feeling adventurous, ask the chefs to prepare a selection of original rolls of their choosing.
A trendy ambience and contemporary feel pervades this relatively small, intimate restaurant. Dark-hued tables and chairs and soft wall lighting provide a calming backdrop to the buzz of lunchtime crowds. Located above the ultra-modern bar and restaurant Port O Call, Pearl’s second-story balcony offers guests a unique vantage point of Front Street, Hamilton’s busy harbour and the white-roofed houses beyond. This bird’s eye view adds to the exclusive atmosphere and is one of the best al fresco dining locales in Bermuda.
Pearl’s award-winning bartenders concoct an assortment of handcrafted cocktails using fresh fruits, homemade syrups and sodas. There’s also a selection of unique sake infused beverages that are sure to tickle your tongue; one of these, the ginger ninja, comes particularly recommended. Guests are also invited to order chilled sake by the bottle; choose between Nigori, Genshu and Daiginjo, to name a few. They even offer Sparkling Sake. Pearl’s busy Happy Hour specials run from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm and include select drinks as well as sushi items.
