Bistro J’s unusual entrance opens onto one of Hamilton’s quieter alleyways, Chancery Lane.
With seating for up to 40 people, Bistro J offers meals that are just as much about the social atmosphere as they are the food. And with the finest Euro¬pean and American meats, local fish, homemade pastas and locally grown produce, the cuisine speaks for itself – trust us.
Modestly priced, Bistro J’s menu is written on a blackboard and changes daily. Weekday lunch and dinners are priced either for two courses or three. To start, choose from an unusual medley of tempting appetisers, Tuna Sashimi with smoked chilli oil or BBQ duck and mushroom crepes with mango salsa. For a main course, choose from grilled Wahoo with carrot and star anise puree with roasted aspara¬gus, the famous bistro burger – prime Angus Beef with Applewood smoked bacon, onion jam and provolone on their house-made brioche bun – or one of Chef Dulip’s hearty, ambrosial curry dishes. The kitchen also creates an assortment of homemade soups, crusty breads, des¬serts and even ice creams. Whatever you do, don’t leave without the vanilla bean cheesecake!
Servers are knowledgeable about ingredients and eager to share menu recommendations. We also can’t say enough about Bistro J’s wine list, which encourages guests to broaden their palates and try something new. All 40 moderately priced bottles are available by the glass.
Hosting a private event? Bistro J’s service team is pleased to offer their entire restaurant for intimate and exciting cocktail parties and dinners. If you already have a menu in mind, the chefs will be more than happy to make it happen. Enjoy exclusivity, specially printed name cards and even personalised music in a venue that will be remembered by all.
