Originally built in the 1720s and later established as an inn and restaurant in 1974, Fourways has remained unchanged at heart despite extensive renovations.
According to legend, the establishment was named “Fourways” because of its unhurried yet persistent growth in four directions. Nowadays, an 18th century Bermuda fireplace, cedar beams and original stone walls lend an alluring sense of character to a space steeped in tradition. The view at Fourways is not a conventional harbour or beach vista, but rather one immersed in historical charm and lush gardens. Fourways is not merely a culinary experience but also a journey back in time.
Sophisticated yet relaxed, Fourways’ patrons enjoy unerring hospitality, lavish meals and a Wine Spectator Award-winning selection of reds and whites; all against a melodic background from our pianist in the dining room. Our experienced sommeliers will guide you through the wine list which ranges from well-balanced New World wines to French Bordeaux, Burgundies and Ports from 1900 to today. The wines, housed in the depths of a unique wine cellar, can be sampled by private groups for a one of a kind experience.
The menu is crafted by award winning Chef Tommy Poh, whose eye for detail and love for food is evident in every dish. Nightly specials showcase the freshest seasonal ingredients and daily fishermen’s haul sprinkled with fresh herbs from the garden outside. They retain their iconic dinner classics, such as Fourways’ Escalope of Veal in a lemon and lime butter sauce, a bestseller for over 40 years and the lightest, mouth-watering soufflés.
Fourways is also renowned for its Sunday brunch, a blowout extravaganza of mouthwatering tastes. International cuisine is supplemented by a generous helping of local island flavour on buffet, stretching the length of the main dining room. The bonanza of classic salads, soups, sushi, seafood and vegetable medleys, cook-to-order omelette bar, carving stations are capped by the spectacular dessert buffet, including a chocolate fountain, unmatched on the island.
This most romantic of restaurants is also multifaceted and offers a host of small, private dining rooms for intimate gatherings, special lunches and privacy for business dinners. Larger wedding receptions and birthday celebrations are easily accommodated under its historic eaves. Lastly, the Peg Leg Bar & Lounge, the most historical part of Fourways, is a lovely spot to retreat for post-dinner drinks; it can be also be used as a charming dining area with a separate entrance and terrace, upon request. A rare glimpse into Bermuda’s history awaits!
