Spring is clearly on the way as the weather gets warmer and sunshine comes out to play and for that, we’re ready to celebrate! Here are a few fun ways to spark some springtime celebrations of your own, none without good reason, of course!

Luck of the Irish

On March 17, leprechauns rejoice and Bermudians become Irish, thanks to the festivities at Flanagan’s (69 Front Street, Hamilton, www.flanagans.bm)! Join them at Pier 6 for drinks and live entertainment from 6:00 p.m. onward, after you’ve had a traditional Irish meal of corned beef and cabbage, Bushmills steak or salmon at Flanagan’s Irish Pub. As an added bonus, enjoy special prices on Guinness, Jameson and Bailey’s, and if you’re really up for a day of Irish celebration, head to Flanagan’s Outback Sports Bar for the Six Nations Rugby Ireland vs. England game at 1:00 p.m.

Irish Blessing

May your thoughts be as glad as the shamrocks,

May your heart be as light as a song,

May each day bring you bright, happy hours,

That stay with you all the year long.

May your troubles be less,

And your blessings be more.

And nothing but happiness,

Come through your door.

Luck-of-the-Irish Toasts

“If you’re enough lucky to be Irish…

You’re lucky enough!”

“May your pockets be heavy—

Your heart be light,

And may good luck pursue you

Each morning and night.”

Let’s Drink to Spring!

On March 20, at precisely 7:21 p.m. EDT, the sun will cross directly over Earth’s equator. This moment is the vernal equinox in the Northern Hemisphere. In the Southern Hemisphere, the moment is the autumnal equinox. For those less interested in astronomical details, March 20 will finally bring the first official day of spring. Toast the occasion with this delicious cocktail:

Vernal Equinox

2 oz. port

1 oz. Grand Marnier

1/2 oz. triple sec

Fill an old-fashioned glass with ice. Add all ingredients and stir. Garnishwith a slice of orange.
