It’s time to get festive! These holiday cookies will be a fun treat at the class winter party.

This recipe makes around 12 average sized cookies. Always make sure to have an adult with you when you are cooking!

Ingredients:
¾ cups butter (soft)
1 ½ cups plain flour
½ cup icing sugar
½ cup cornflour

To decorate:
white marshmallows
1 cup icing sugar
water
rainbow sprinkles or mini m&m’s
chocolate sprinkles
chocolate buttons

Baking tray
Baking sheet paper
Large mixing bowl
Clean surface
Rolling pin
Round cookie cutter

Directions:
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F and line a baking tray with baking paper.
Place butter, flour, icing sugar and cornflour into mixing bowl. Using your hands mix together until it forms crumbs then bring it together into a nice ball of dough.
Lightly flour your work surface and roll the dough out until it’s about ¼ inch. To stop the dough sticking to the rolling pin you can either sprinkle some more flour on it or simply put a sheet of baking paper over the top.
Using a round cookie cutter cut out cookies and place them on a lined baking tray.
Pop the baking trays in the oven for around 10 minutes. Keep an eye on them and remove them from the oven before they turn golden brown. Leave to cool.

Mix the icing sugar together with a tablespoon or so of water in a small bowl. Mix it together so it forms a slightly runny icing – you don’t want it too thin or it will run.
Pop a few tablespoons of the icing into a small freezer bag, seal it and cut a tiny hole in one corner. If you want you can add a few more drops to the icing left in your bowl to make it easier to spread on the cookies.

Pipe the outline of the melted snow around the cookie, then use a spoon to spread icing into the middle of the outline to fill it in. For each cookie, add a marshmallow as the “snowman”, push two chocolate sprinkles into marshmallow to make the eyes, then add a chocolate button as a hat and then a line of rainbow sprinkles or mini m&m’s as the buttons to the melted snowman.

Opt: Pre-toast marshmallows for 3 minutes at 180 degrees F for a crispy and tanned snowman fitting for a tropical snowman.
