Animal owners across the island rely on the experienced team at Ettrick Animal Hospital to provide quality, innovative care for their animals. This unique veterinary and boarding operation creates an environment where clients and their pets are treated like ‘family’!
The clinic was founded in 1971 by Dr. Tom James and his wife, Caroline. Initially run as a one-person practice, the clinic and boarding operations have grown significantly over the past 46 years and now boast a team of 20. On board are five veterinarians, along with an exceptional team consisting of nurses, front desk and kennel staff, and others working behind the scenes. Since 2000, the practice has been owned and operated by Bermudian veterinarian Dr. Andrew Madeiros.
Ettrick is a full service veterinary facility, offering comprehensive medical and surgical services for small species animals from dogs and cats to rabbits, birds, hamsters and guinea pigs. The clinic offers 24/7 emergency treatment, home visit services, overseas referrals, in-house lab services, digital radiology, ultrasound and acupuncture. Ettrick is also known for its popular boarding facility for cats and dogs.
“Accessibility to the best available technology and treatment requires continual upgrades to our equipment and diagnostic tools,” states Dr. Madeiros. “We also are committed to providing training opportunities for our medical team. These investments ensure ongoing improvements in the quality of animal care and allow the hospital to routinely offer procedures that might be considered extraordinary in many other practices.”
The team at Ettrick places importance on knowing their clients, and this is a contributing factor to the success of the business. Staff work tirelessly to ensure that clients fully understand all care and treatment options and regularly educate people on the importance of preventative care for pets. A common goal of the entire team is to have clients feel that they have received good value for the money spent on their animals.
Despite the challenges of the downturn in the economy and added competition in the market, Ettrick enjoys a high client retention rate while also continuing to welcome new clients.
Recognized for the quality of service provided, along with its experienced and caring staff, Ettrick Animal Hospital intends to remain a favourite of Bermuda’s pet owners.
